The Basics of American Football

One of the most well loved sports in all of the United States, played in fields and stadiums, parks and backyards, and almost everywhere else possible, the game of American football is the great marriage of physical and athletic abilities with quick and precise decision-making. The sport of American football is a great competitive sport played in teams. The game's intense need for strategy and physical play has truly made it one of the most popular sports not only in the United States, but also in many other parts of the world.

In the game of American football, a football team gets to score points by way of advancing the ball right to their opponent's side of the field called the end zone. Carrying the ball is one of the ways of advancing the ball, but the option of passing the ball to a team mate is also possible. These scoring plays are known as the running play and the passing play respectively. Another way of scoring in American football is by kicking the ball through the middle of the opposing team's goal post which is found at their end zone.

There are many leagues nowadays that represent the sport of American football all over the globe outside the United States. There are leagues that are currently being run in Germany, Sweden, Japan, United Kingdom, and Mexico.
